How to prepare a journal club report?

1. Repeat three times during the presentation the same thing: at the beginning - what do they want to show (schematic picture if it is complicated), then what did they show (results), and at the end of the presentation – the conclusions again shortly (you can read them).
2. Start from their main result in all these three parts of the presentation if they did not do it themselves. What is their scientific problem? What is their experimental approach?
3. Take a short history of the problem from the introduction and discussion, and show it.
4. Transfer every important for you Figure into the slides.
5. Copy-paste each of their conclusions on the same slide with relevant Figure.
6. Explain: Does the Figure prove the conclusion or not and why not, if any does not.
7. Read at least one recent review and sprinkle in your presentation a sentence – this conclusion is well accepted in the field.
8. Try to simplify and explain for the least experienced person in the audience.
9. Ask everybody‘s opinion about the presented work at the end of your presentation.
10. Before the presentation, show your slides to your friends. Make sure you can fit into a time frame allowed for this presentation.
