 "Ukraine is extremely corrupt. In the 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), Ukraine scored 32 points out of a possible 100, ranking 122 out of 180 countries. Transparency bastions such as Zambia, Nepal, Egypt, the Philippines and Algeria outperform Ukraine by one point, Swaziland scored as many points as Ukraine.

 

    The Ukrainian judicial system is deplorable. The Constitutional Court undermines efforts to legitimize anti-corruption measures, fails to remove apparently bribed judges, and government-backed deputies have refused to approve the most suitable candidate for the post of chief anti-corruption prosecutor because they do not want an independent professional prosecutor.

 

    Petro Poroshenko, a former president and leader of the opposition European Solidarity party, has been prosecuted for betraying Ukraine: buying coal for about $ 47 million from Donbass. He allegedly supported the separatists. Poroshenko said it was necessary to do so to prevent the collapse of the economy, and denies profiting from any transactions. The non-corruption court procedures on the former leaders of the country are a specialty of the banana republics and not of the liberal democracies.”
