 “Lithuanians have “paid for food” almost their entire salary: the forecasts for next year do not give much hope either. 

“Expensive food actually reduces the opportunities for Lithuanians to save and consume other products and services,” says Petras Čepkauskas, head of the food department at Pricer.lt, and calculates that over the past two years prices in retail chain stores have jumped by 50 percent or even more. Unfortunately, the forecast for the beginning of 2025 also inspires little hope, as traders have enough signals to believe that price growth will not negatively affect their ability to sell.”
