Palantir has sued two of its former employees, alleging they engaged in a prolonged campaign of deception and theft to help build a competing artificial-intelligence company.
In a lawsuit filed Thursday in the Southern District of New York, Palantir alleged that Radha Jain and Joanna Cohen violated their noncompetition agreements after leaving the company and working on a "copycat" business -- Percepta -- owned by the venture-capital firm General Catalyst.
Palantir, a data-analysis firm co-founded by Alex Karp and Peter Thiel, further alleged that Cohen stole a set of highly confidential documents before departing.
Palantir's lawsuit is the latest in a new wave of corporate lawfare in the white-hot AI sector, with companies including Elon Musk's xAI suing former employees and competitors for alleged trade-secrets infractions.
General Catalyst, Jain and Cohen didn't respond to requests for comment.
While employed at Palantir, Jain and Cohen had access to its "crown jewels" -- including its source code, internal workspace and customer workflows, the company said. That information was protected, Palantir added, by noncompete and confidentiality agreements both women signed.
"Palantir had every expectation that Jain and Cohen would honor their commitments," the company said in its complaint. "Instead, Jain and Cohen weaponized their insider knowledge to harm Palantir by passing off Palantir's efforts as their own."
Jain resigned from Palantir in November 2024, and Cohen followed in February, the lawsuit said. It alleged both Jain and Cohen weren't forthcoming about their next steps, and didn't publicly disclose that they were working on Percepta until the product launched earlier this month.” [1]
