Australia To Boost High-Tech Prowess

"SYDNEY -- Australia will strengthen its capabilities in quantum science and other technologies that could be used to counter threats from China, providing more detail on the type of innovations Australia might develop alongside the U.S. under a new security partnership.

Australia will invest the equivalent of about $81 million in quantum technology, including for a hub that will foster strategic partnerships with like-minded countries to commercialize Australia's quantum research, officials said. It is just one of many critical technologies -- including ultra-advanced 6G communications, genetic engineering and alternative fuels -- on which Australia plans to focus in the coming years.

The unveiling of Australia's critical-technology plan comes shortly after Australia, the U.S. and the U.K. agreed to a new security partnership, known as AUKUS, to strengthen cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. The AUKUS pact envisions the development of a nuclear-submarine capability for Australia, but it also called for greater security cooperation among the three countries on cyber capabilities, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and undersea capabilities.

The Biden administration has appointed James Miller, a former undersecretary of defense for policy during the Obama administration, to spearhead its plan to help Australia develop nuclear-powered submarines and broaden military cooperation with the country. Mr. Miller assumed the newly established position on Tuesday and will report to U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan." [1]

Good job, Australians. And the Lithuanian government spends a billion euros a year on golden spoons for conscripts. Part of that billion is settling in the pockets of people of the Landsbergiai circle like Nota bene scammers. We could do something useful too ...
