The German way
Doctors with protective equipment go to patients in their home to take blood for analysis and see the condition for 5-6 days after the onset of symptoms. If severe signs of inflammation appear [1], patients are transported to hospital, treatment is started early so that the impending storm of cytokines less likely leads to severe consequences. This is the famous German corona taxi method.
The Chinese way
Such patients are spending time in large wards and their condition is monitored there.
Both methods result in lower mortality, compared with just waiting without observation. With fewer patients, the German method is more practical and cheaper. With more patients, we have to switch to the Chinese method.
1. "The patient with markedly elevated platelets and longer average hospitalization days may be related to the cytokine storm. The platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio of patients means the degree of cytokine storm, which might provide a new indicator in the monitoring in patients with COVID-19.Platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio is associated with prognosis in patients with coronavirus disease-19."
