The city is a smoggy, dusty, noisy place. The smog is easy to see as a brown broad streak above the horizon everywhere you look on quiet day.It is not a good idea to drive a hundred kilometers or less out of the city in hope to reduce smog exposure. The smog and small particles do not settle down to the earth quickly. They are moved by wind over long distances. The photo-chemical smog was discovered on yellow pine trees in San Bernardino Mountains, hundred kilometers from Los Angeles.
Does it make sense to visit the city? Only in one case. If you need to participate in the culture of the city.
