For sharing platforms, golden days are ending

It is reasonable, that they are ending. The logic of Uber and other sharing platforms, if allowed, would lead to the employer telling telling the employee to buy an ax when the employee comes to work as a logger. Now you have an ax - you are an independent contractor, a proud individual entrepreneur. You can work whenever you want, but if you don't cut down trees, you won't get paid. Holidays, health insurance, sick leave no longer belong to you. Wild capitalism returns, wearing a bikini of supposed freedom. Do you want to live in such a world? Nonsense ...

"The verdict ended almost five years of proceedings in which former Uber drivers sought to prove that they had the same rights as those employed by Uber. They had filed claims against the company over entitlement to a minimum wage, paid leave and other social guarantees. Uber has been sued by 25 former drivers, but it is estimated that if their claim is upheld, the number of claims could rise to thousands.

The UK Labor Court will now have to decide how much compensation Uber drivers are entitled to. Although the UK Supreme Court ruling will only apply to Uber, Bloomberg writes that more than one company in the country will now have to review employee relations as the case could give impetus to a wave of similar claims.
