"Immunocompromised people who have contracted the coronavirus can be contagious for two months, scientists from the United States have found. In particular, this applies to patients with cancer. Because of the strong immunosuppressive drugs in these patients, the virus continues to survive for much longer. The same can apply to HIV-infected people who have undergone major operations and other people with profound disruptions in the work of the body's defense system. Taking into account the new data, it is worth revising the rules for the interaction of medical workers and relatives with patients with suppressed immunity, experts say."
People with a healthy immune system are usually infectious two days before the onset of symptoms and five days after.
