“Hamas has returned only nine of the 28 dead Israeli hostages it promised President Trump. Perhaps the terrorists are busy dealing with the corpses of the Palestinians they have been executing since the cease-fire. Where are the protests now from those in the West who claimed to speak for Gazans?
"Death to Zionism. Death to all collaborators," the National Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) wrote in an online post Sunday, echoing Hamas's usual excuse for killing its rivals and dissenters. SJP led the 2024 campus protests in the U.S. and received fawning press coverage for its humanitarian concern.
President Trump at first suggested Hamas could act as a Gaza police force. "They do want to stop the problems, and they've been open about it, and we gave them approval for a period of time," he said Monday. By dribbling out Israeli hostage bodies, Hamas is lengthening that period to reassert control.
A video that emerged the same day shows Hamas shooting blindfolded, kneeling members of the Doghmush clan in public. Through two years of hard fighting and specious allegations against Israel, there hasn't been evidence of anything like the field executions Hamas perpetrated in its first week of "quiet."
Mr. Trump might have seen the same images. "If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them," he wrote Thursday.
The Doghmush clan reports dozens of its members killed, including women and children uninvolved in clashes. Family members say Hamas militias raided their neighborhood, setting homes and cars ablaze and torturing and killing anyone they could find with the wrong last name. Photos show Hamas terrorists taking corpses with them on pickup trucks, as they did in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
Hamas's reign of violence has already extracted at least one concession. The Al Majaydeh clan announced Monday that it will disarm to Hamas.
Whatever Hamas conceded to on paper, Gaza is moving in the wrong direction. Hamas's failure to hand over the Israeli hostage bodies violates the deal, and the terrorists appear to have no plans to surrender their arms as Mr. Trump's terms require. This is why the agreement freed all the living hostages up front and kept Israeli forces at the ready in Gaza's other half.” [1]
