In order to compete with low-cost Chinese platforms such as Temu and Shein, Amazon has implemented strategic fee changes in 2024-2025, focused on the low-cost segment:


Lower fees for clothing: For clothing priced under $15, the referral fee has been reduced from 17% to 5%. For items priced between $15 and $20, the fee has been reduced to 10%.

New platform Amazon Haul: In late 2024, a dedicated section of the mobile app called Amazon Haul was launched, with most items priced up to $20. It has longer delivery times (1-2 weeks), but offers sellers lower logistics costs.

Logistics incentives: Discounts on Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) services for small and low-cost items are available to help sellers maintain competitive prices even as shipping costs increase.

 

With these actions, Amazon aims to stem the flow of buyers to Chinese platforms that ship directly from manufacturers in Asia.
