In Lithuania, technologies and innovations in the field of health care are also very much needed. There are also several successful start-ups who are developing various innovations to improve, monitor and research the health status of patients. Oxipit is well known, as are Aichom, Lympo and others [1]. The need for change is high and in the public sector the system faces many challenges, for example, to ensure the efficient use of data, the exchange of information, the ability to carry out the necessary research in a timely manner, to ensure the health of employees. The use of technologies in the field of health can be very wide, but there are not many such initiatives in Lithuania yet.
Why do you think there are still few health start-ups in the country?
The concept of social business in Lithuania is still being developed and entering the health market is a bit more difficult than in other areas. In addition, although we have strong talents in the field of health in Lithuania, they still lack various support: incubators, interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial skills training, assistance in commercialization. On the other hand, competition is low, so there is an opportunity to stand out and become a leader. In addition, funding opportunities are growing, with a range of tools offered by the Science, Innovation and Technology Agency (MITA) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology's EIT Health program, which supports the development of the most promising health start-ups. Probably the main reason why there is a lack of health start-ups in Lithuania is the relatively small market of the country and the rather local thinking of start-ups, which makes it difficult to attract investment. True, a start-up often finds himself in a situation where he has to choose between pursuing a broad market or adapting innovation appropriately to a narrow market segment. Both options have advantages and disadvantages, but it is more important to think globally, focus first on one market and anticipate gradual expansion into other markets."
Good luck keeping your wellbeing. In Lithuania we have no serious healthcare startups.
