"Foreign Minister Gabriel Landsberg emphasizes that the only safe way to enter Europe is through the legal route. He sent a message to migrants crossing the border illegally on Friday morning, warning that anything could end in death at the hands of the dictator. Last day, Lithuanian officials detained two illegal migrants, turned over more than 100 people, according to data released by Statistics Lithuania and border guards on Friday. "
If the Minister is right, then reversing migrants and sending them to death in the hands of a dictator is unacceptable. Stupid Minister, stupid Lithuanian rulers should be punished.
"The refugee convention, adopted on July 28th 1951, governs the obligations that states have to people who flee their countries because of a "well-founded fear" of persecution "for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion". States must not send them back to danger, a principle called non-refoulement. America incorporated the treaty's language in the Refugee Act of 1980." [1]
