"Increasingly pro-Russian actions of the White House.
This time, Trump's team wants to launch Gazprom's damaged undersea gas
pipeline. It has hired a former agent of the GDR security service to do so. The
EU and Germany have never given permission for Nord Stream 2 to work. So who
would this pipeline work for?
The British "Financial Times" (FT) has learned
about the US work on a plan to launch Nord Stream 2 - a gas pipeline that has
never started operating. It has not received permission from Germany - the
final recipient, or the European Commission. It does not have a safety
certificate, and in the fall of 2022 it was blown up by still unidentified
perpetrators.
According to
FT sources, Trump's team "is aware" of the initiative to launch Nord
Stream 2 and sees this project as a strategic asset that can be used in peace
talks, FT has established.
A communist security agent is working for the Americans
Who is working for the Americans to launch the Russian gas
pipeline? It is Matthias Warnig, former executive director of the Swiss company
Gazprom - the operator of the Nord Stream 2 AG project. This former agent of
the infamous Stasi - the GDR security service, is to develop a project to
restart the gas pipeline "with the support of American investors",
writes the Financial Times (FT), citing sources.
According to
FT informants, high-ranking members of Donald Trump's administration "know
about his initiative and see it as part of efforts to restore relations with
Russia". This is also supposed to be a strategic asset in peace talks.
"The United States would say: Now you can rely on
Russia, because there are reliable Americans involved there,'" explained a
former high-ranking American official familiar with some of the attempts to
conclude an agreement. According to him, American investors will start receiving
money "for free".
Recall that in September 2022, one line of Nord Stream 2 and
both lines of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline, which has been operating since
2011, exploded. The second line of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, whose annual
capacity is 27.5 billion cubic meters, is undamaged. Before the sabotage
occurred, Gazprom, in defiance of the EU and Germany, who did not give
permission for the launch, filled the gas pipeline with gas. This caused the
raw material to leak into the sea as a result of the explosion and
environmental pollution.
Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said during her
visit to Poland that the Danish authorities take the gas leak from Nord Stream
and Nord Stream 2 very seriously. These incidents can hardly be called a
coincidence. Swedish media report on "strong underwater explosions"
recorded by seismographs.
Brussels concerned and ready to act
The actions of Trump's team may please the Kremlin. The Nord
Stream 2 gas pipeline was the apple of Putin's court's eye. That is why the
situation around the inactive Russian pipeline at the bottom of the Baltic Sea
is causing concern in Brussels. As the FT has established, EU authorities have
learned in recent weeks about the American talks on Nord Stream 2, and European
leaders are concerned and have already discussed the situation among
themselves. The publication explains that the implementation of Warnig's plan
would give the United States unprecedented influence over energy supplies to
Europe. Provided that there are willing parties.
The plan
assumes the lifting of US sanctions, Russia's consent to resume gas supplies,
and Germany's consent to transfer gas to all European recipients (the gas
receiving station is located in northern Germany).
Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the FT
that he had no information about the pipeline talks. Gazprom declined to
comment. Warnig assured the newspaper that he "did not participate in any
discussions with American politicians or business representatives" and
added that he complied "with the rules as a person subject to US
sanctions."
Informal
preparations have begun in Brussels to include a point in a potential peace
agreement with Moscow on the resumption of EU imports of Russian gas via a
pipeline under the Baltic Sea, the Financial Times warns.
No one comments, business warns
Are they really? In January 2025, Nord Stream 2 AG received
a four-month postponement of bankruptcy proceedings. According to court
documents, Gazprom stated that the new presidential administration in the US
and the February elections in Germany "could have significant implications
for the circumstances of the Nord Stream 2 project," which would justify
the delay, the FT writes. According to the source, several investors have already
expressed interest, and one consortium has even developed a plan for an
agreement with Gazprom after the lifting of sanctions.
The Americans are aware that Putin's and Trump's consent
will not be enough to launch the gas pipeline. High-ranking US officials and
businessmen have warned about this with experience working in Russia, who were
interviewed for the newspaper. "I can't imagine that the board of any
large American corporation would now say, 'Hey, let's go back to the Russian
market,' and the Russians know that too - they've seen the fluctuations in
American policy," explained the former high-ranking American official. He
recalled that the EU has not lifted sanctions, and agreeing to launch the gas
pipeline would provoke a strong reaction in Germany, so "we are still a
long way from something like that."
Americans want to create the EU as a competitor for China in
buying Russian gas, to increase gas prices for the Chinese and cut one reason
to feel friendship between China and Russia lasting forever.
Cheap Russian gas flowing into the EU would reduce energy
prices and inflation in the West, including the USA, allowing president D.
Trump to keep the majority in control of power in the USA after elections there
in two years.
Germany’s industry would be competitive again and would
start to recover lifting up everybody in the EU.
