“Your editorial asserts that U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports are coming "to the world's rescue" after Donald Trump launched his latest war, which is causing major disruptions to fossil fuel flows throughout the globe ("U.S. LNG Exports to the Rescue," March 3).
But the editorial fails to rebut the key fact that profits reaped from surging LNG exports by fossil fuel companies will be paid by American households.
Additionally, as LNG exports spike prices here at home, Mr. Trump is actively blocking affordable clean energy from coming online -- projects that are ready to power our grid, bring down costs and insulate American ratepayers from the global chaos caused by Mr. Trump's actions. His administration is also canceling grants that would help lower energy costs nationwide, from transmission projects to the national climate bank.
The editorial further fails to mention that the LNG exporters poised to profit on global price spikes are major Trump donors.
LNG exports allow fossil-fuel companies to chase the highest prices on the global market, leaving Americans holding the bag. Mr. Trump's "America Last" agenda is playing out over and over again, putting our troops at risk abroad and our budgets at risk at home. American families want to be able to keep the lights on and heat their homes without having to scan the headlines for Mr. Trump's latest actions.
