Using death as research tool

We are in the middle of deadly pandemic with no known good treatment for the disease. It is morally wrong for some scientists to complain loudly that application of convalescent plasma or other new, not tested well enough treatment trying to save human life "hinders enrollment in the more rigorous randomized trials that could definitively prove whether it works. The emergency authorization granted by authorities broadens that access." Right, who will enroll into clinical trial  risking to become a sham treatment case, and, this way, risking death.

The position of these scientists is not only morally wrong. It damages science reputation in the society, demonstrating that our scientists are cold, calculating, greedy, going for money from well financed expensive clinical trials in the time of massive death and suffering. These are not scientists we knew from history. These are cruel, detached from the community, horrible people.

"According to a well-known expression, Rome's emperor at the time, the decadent and unpopular Nero, “fiddled while Rome burned.” The expression has a double meaning: Not only did Nero play music while his people suffered, but he was an ineffectual leader in a time of crisis."
Do you want to leave such legends after yourself also?
