Because Lithuanian food products are dangerous to health:
"Today,
according to expert estimates, the black market of plant protection products in
Lithuania reaches up to 40 million euros.
Further
restrictions on the use of legal products will undoubtedly lead to the growth
of the shadow: if a farmer does not have effective legal measures to control
pests, he is likely to look for other ways to preserve the harvest, including
products on the black market. And this would not only be detrimental to the
state due to uncollected taxes, but, more importantly, the food grown is unsafe
for consumption,” - says Arnas Radzevičius, head of Agrokoncernas Agro precision
technology department, the report said.
Zita
Varanavičienė, the director of the Lithuanian Plant Protection Association,
also supports him. "We shouldn't be ostriches - we need to see the whole
picture.
By abandoning
legal, scientifically researched safe products, we are opening up a shadow
market in which illegal products that are toxic and unacceptable are already
being traded today.
And this could
destroy the whole concept of the EU Green Course - we want more sustainability,
and instead we will have the use of products of uncertain origin in
agriculture," - warns Z. Varanavičienė."
It is necessary to grow food and prepare for ourselves. Who
is having a hard time doing that, should be buying food in Poland, where the government is still
operating.
