The history of bans on dual citizenship after the Declaration of Independence in Lithuania

Bans were introduced little by little. At first, according to the laws passed by the Seimas and signed by the President, Lithuanians were quite free to leave their dual citizenship, because those who have it are rare, most of them stayed in Lithuania. Then these laws were submitted to the Constitutional Court. Practically everyone who went to the West after the Declaration of Independence began to have their passports revoked. More recently, since 2016, Lithuanian government have come up with the idea that citizenship can be left only to Kalanta and other martyrs who fought against the Communists. All those who left immediately after the WWII for the West in search of a good life immediately became such martyrs - fighters. Serfdom existed in Lithuania for a long time. We Lithuanians have learned to lie and say what their lord Kūris wants. Each of us is now a martyr, a fighter against the Communists, even the most ardent Communists. But during the secret voting, we cast the votes in such a way that Mr. Kūris starts to vomit and bleat.   70 percent or more of active voters are against his dual citizenship bans, it's unbelievable.

This is how we live. We lie, we say we are a democracy, we do to our countrymen what the Communists did to the Communist-hating Jews fleeing to Israel. We loudly mock the will of the nation. Every nonsense comes to an end though. This one will end too.
