Everyone knows how things ended tragically for Lithuania’s King Mindaugas. Now, the next candidate for Lithuanian Queen—Morta Landsbergienė—has sold off all her schools and fled to Greece.
• The school "sell-off": In the summer of 2026, it was announced that the international education network Globeducate had acquired the Queen Morta School and the Vaikystės Sodas (Garden of Childhood) kindergartens. The goal of the deal was to integrate the institutions into the international network. The schools themselves continue to operate successfully in Lithuania, yet Queen Morta is no longer in the country.
• The Greece factor: Talk of "fleeing" arose after it was revealed that the Landsbergis family had purchased real estate (a house) on the Greek island of Aegina back in 2022. In interviews, A. Landsbergienė herself has confirmed that while the family loves spending summers at this villa, they don't mind the winter either, and the country itself represents a long-held dream of hers.
