Gabrielius Landsbergis took millions of euros from Sh. Stepukonis on a
plate with gilded edges... Therefore, this story is important for all of
Lithuania.
"It would seem extremely bold to claim that Sh. Stepukonis, the
partner of the BaltCap fund who stole millions euros of the national stadium in
Vilnius and lost them gambling, will avoid responsibility.
But after putting everything on the shelves, the question arises: why
not? This is why Finance Minister G. Skaistė appointed V. Daukšis, the head of
the Gambling Supervision Service (LPT) for a new term, without a competition, because
the law allows to do so if the activity is evaluated as "good" or
"very good". Does it bother you that V. Daukšis's activities were
evaluated "very good" after Sh. Stepukonis' story?
V. Daukshys is outraged that the post of director of LPT, appointed
without a tender, will continue: after the "BaltCap" scandal, it is
"more than strange", the Minister of Finance blurted out, using a
previously unheard phrase: this case was said to be an "additional
contextual component". It is logical that if LPT supervised the casino
where Sh. Stepukonis gambled "very well", then what sins of this
manager can we talk about? After all, when appointing V. Daukshis for a second
term, as it is written, his principled contribution in the field of gambling
prevention was evaluated.
And if the president of the National Gambling and Games Business
Association, L.Ulevičius, will nail V.Daukshis to the cross again, saying that
he is responsible for not seeing the essential problems, and maybe for criminal
cover-up, Sh. Stepukonis can read the section "Gambling Addiction and
Problem Gambling" on the website of the same LPT. It turns out that
gambling addiction is a mental disorder, one of the impulse control disorders.
So draw your own conclusions.
Now - about G. Skaistė, who not
only saved V. Daukshis from trouble, but also kept his chair with an additional
contextual element. Last year, there were also clouds over this politician's
head, when it became clear that she
was involved in the check scandal (stealin goverment's money) and
President G. Nausėda called on Prime Minister I. Šimonytė to decide on the
further work of the minister. Prime Minister I. Šimonytė kept G. Skaiste's
post not with a "very good" assessment of her performance, but with a
simple explanation that we are talking about old times, so it is irrational to
demand that the minister justify her expenses. In other words, everyone either
works very well, or the sins are very old, so not a hair falls from anyone's
head."
Paradise.
