“Polish Gen. Roman Polko:
The Kremlin's useful idiots. Arkadiusz Mularczyk: The general probably didn't
understand
- The German deep
state is trying to use EU structures to strengthen the German arms industry and
the entire German economy at the expense of other member states. Gen. Polko
doesn't see that? - said Polish PiS MEP Arkadiusz Mularczyk, responding to criticism
from Gen. Roman Polko in connection with the vote on the resolution on the
white paper on defense.
- The Kremlin is again happy that Poland is voting against
itself, because after all, the representatives of the Republic voted against
the East Shield [1]. These are, to put it briefly, the Kremlin's useful idiots,
there is really no other way to describe this and it is hard to find any
explanation - this is how General Roman Polko commented on the recent vote in
the European Parliament on the white paper on the future of European defence in
an interview with "Super Express".
Resolution of the European Parliament on defence. What is
the dispute between KO, PiS and Konfederacja about?
This is a 19-page, 89-point document, which includes one
fragment concerning the Eastern Shield. According to the text, the European
Parliament "expects the most urgent threats to be indicated in the white
paper on the future of European defence" and "emphasises that the
protection of the EU's land, air and sea borders contributes to the security of
the entire EU, in particular the EU's eastern border, and therefore emphasises
that the Eastern Shield and the Baltic Defence Line should be the EU's flagship
projects supporting deterrence and overcoming potential threats from the
East".
The "East Shield" - a project to strengthen
Poland's eastern border and NATO's eastern flank - was entered by the European
Commission into the so-called White Paper on Defence. This means that the project
was considered a critical area in increasing Europe's defence capabilities.
PiS MEPs and some Confederation MEPs voted against the
resolution (some abstained). Politicians from the ruling coalition accused PiS
and Confederation MEPs of not supporting the East Shield, which, according to
Prime Minister Donald Tusk's announcements, was to mean allocating PLN 10
billion to strengthen Poland's eastern border.
PiS MEPs indicated that they supported the amendment
regarding the East Shield. They argued that the resolution transfers
decision-making on EU countries' defence to the Union and is a step towards
marginalising NATO.
In turn, one of the leaders of the Confederation, Krzysztof
Bosak, argued that the EP resolution on the white paper is not binding and does
not say anything about financing the East Shield. According to the Deputy
Speaker of the Sejm, increasing interoperability and possible coordination of
orders or production should be done "by NATO, not the Brussels EU
administration". Confederation MEP Anna Bryłka pointed out that in the
resolution, the European Parliament calls on member states to allocate at least
0.25 percent of GDP for military aid for Ukraine and wants to abandon the
requirement of unanimity when making decisions in the European Council, the
Council of Ministers and EU agencies.
At the moment, an
operation is taking place aimed at changing the Union into a state - and a
centralized state, as you know, under the leadership of Germany and France -
said PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński after the vote in the Sejm.
Arkadiusz Mularczyk: The lack of unanimity in the EU is a
danger for Poland
Arkadiusz Mularczyk,
PiS MEP and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, was asked about the vote
and the commentary of Gen. Polka by the Fronda.pl portal. - We have analyzed
the provisions of this resolution quite thoroughly and its basic problem is
that it hands over key decisions relating to security policy and armaments to
the European Commission dominated by German and French interests - replied the
politician. He added that the purpose of the resolution was to "move away
from the unanimity requirement in favor of making decisions on security matters
in the European Council by a qualified majority". - For Poland as a border
country of the European Union, this solution is particularly dangerous. It is
enough to recall that when a few years ago there was an influx of illegal
migrants from Belarus to the Polish border, inspired by Minsk, Brussels
tried to force us to let these Lukashenka refugees into our country - he
emphasized. Polish taxpayers' money will
be used to finance the German arms industry.
According to
Mularczyk, from Poland's point of view it is worrying that, according to the
resolution, decisions regarding arms contracts "will be made by EU
bureaucrats", which, the MEP assessed, would mean strengthening large arms
companies from Germany and France. - Polish taxpayers' money will be allocated
to financing the German arms industry. And I absolutely do not agree to Poles
contributing to the German arms industry, especially since Germany has not yet
settled accounts for the wrongs, crimes and destruction inflicted on Poland
during World War II. Therefore, there is no consent for issues of armaments,
security and protection of Polish borders to be made in Brussels or Berlin. All
decisions in this regard must remain in Polish hands - the former deputy
minister told the portal.
PiS MEP: General Polko does not see that? I am surprised by
him
- So I am surprised by General Polko using such strong
formulations, when he probably simply did not understand, did not read and did
not grasp the whole issue, clearly having no idea what processes are currently
taking place in the European Union in relation to issues related to the
security of member states - said Mularczyk. - After all, in a way outside the treaty, attempts are being made to
deprive member states of the competence to conduct both internal and external
policy. And this is very dangerous. It
is also visible to the naked eye that the German deep state is trying to use EU
structures to strengthen the German arms industry and the entire German economy
at the expense of other member states. Doesn't General Polko see this? - he
continued.
In an interview with Fronda.pl, Arkadiusz Mularczyk noted
that PiS MEPs voted for the amendment to the resolution concerning the East
Shield. - However, we also voted against the entire resolution, because it is
simply dangerous for Poland - he added, assessing that the provision on the
Eastern Shield in the resolution was a "throw-in" that was supposed
to "cover up the real problem resulting from the provisions of the entire
resolution". - The ruling camp, fully aware of the fact that the provision
on the Eastern Shield is only incidental in the context of the entirety of the
provisions of the EU resolution, is now trying to play it politically and
proverbially turn the tables - said the Law and Justice MEP.
"The European
Union is not a club of friends"
- The fact must
finally reach Polish society that the European Union is not a club of friends,
where everyone pats each other on the back and cares for the good of others,
but there is a game going on there for the interests of individual member
states, the strongest of which is Germany. Berlin is striving to use money,
among other things, of Polish taxpayers, German production would develop in
large German armaments plants, and then Poland, again with Polish taxpayers'
money, would buy this ready-made German equipment, strengthening the German
economy once again - Mularczyk argued in an interview. - We cannot agree to
this - he declared.”
It turns out that the everybody’s and high taxation of our, Lithuanian,
housing is intended to strengthen German industry at our expense. Why doesn't our elite openly tell us this? Why can the Poles discuss what they are
allocating huge amounts of money to, but we can't? Is it possible that the entire Lithuanian
elite is bribed and is deliberately destroying Lithuania for the benefit of our
old enemies... (Remember Pirčiupis' mother and the Battle of Grunwald?)
1. Explanation:
“East Shield (Polish: Tarcza Wschód) is a national defense
initiative launched by the Polish government to fortify its eastern borders
with Belarus and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. The program represents one
of the most significant investments in national security and border defense in
Poland's post-war history.”
