"The Estonian
wants member states to significantly increase their military aid to Ukraine.
But some are resisting, which is undermining her authority.
Kallas has achieved little else so
far.
There is "broad political support" for her plan,
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said again on Monday. EU foreign ministers
were discussing the so-called Kallas Plan, which aims to significantly increase
military aid to Ukraine this year, for the second time. In fact, it's not just
details and technical questions that are still open, as she always claims.
Resistance to her initiative is
coming not only from Hungary, but also from France, Italy, and Spain. These
countries are fighting tooth and nail to prevent a significantly higher
contribution. So far, they're doing less together than Denmark alone."
