If we do not finance science in Lithuania, can we speak about science topics using Lithuanian language?

"According to A. Smetona, Associate Professor of Vilnius University, the Swedish Parliament established a commission to assess the situation of the Swedish language in 2000 and established that Swedish becomes only a domestic language, ie English predominates in science. Swedish scientists not only write dissertations but also lecture in English. 

 

The terminological parliamentary committee recommended that the dissertation be considered defended only if a comprehensive article on the popularization of science presented in the dissertation is published in Swedish.

 

     LMA President Professor habil. dr. Jūras Banys is outraged that in Lithuania only 0.25% of GDP is allocated for research - less than in Bulgaria and Romania: “What kind of scientific language can we talk about at all? There’s a lot of trouble.”

Surely, if we do not have specialists in an important field, we will speak about it in English, Russian, German or some other language.
