"On Saturday,
professor, signatory and politician Aloyzas Sakalas announced that he had been
vaccinated with a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
“Yesterday, on the
recommendation and assistance of my wife Daiva, I was vaccinated against
COVID-19 for the third time. This shows my and Daiva's attitude towards
vaccinations,” - A. Sakalas is quoted on D. Sakalė's facebook account. A. Sakalas
was surprised by the expression of opinions on social networks. "I have read facebook comments which show that some commentators have only his
truth and all others are unworthy, I was worried because one and only one opinion
is typical of dictatorial states and not democracies," - he continues.
In a democracy,
all parties are heard in the public sphere, but standards such as respect for
the human person and his or her dignity are not violated.
"The attempts
of some government officials, doctors and commentators to use the tragedy of a
young family to advertise vaccines were also unpleasantly surprising.
Only facts that do
not interfere with respect for the deceased, his / her relatives and the
patient's (deceased's) secrets, dignity, personal data should be used for
advertising. Emotions must not be used for advertising, the deceased must not
be a tool in political struggles with opponents, as this only deepens the pain
of loved ones. It should not be in a public space. In a democratic state, all
sides are heard in the public space, but such standards as respect for a person
and his dignity are not violated," - A. Sakalas concluded his thoughts."
Lithuanian Conservative and Liberal government, as well as the
businesses that finance it and operate in Lithuania, treat their compatriots
inhumanely. It is long overdue to take such government and such businesses to the
dustbin of history.
