Elon Musk: The West Is Sleepwalking Towards World War III. He Called for Sacrificing the Integrity of Ukraine

"Elon Musk called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and normalization of relations with Russia to avoid a third world war.

On Monday, the X website, owned by Elon Musk, organized a public conversation in which he and, among others,  Vivek Ramaswamy running for the Republican nomination participated. The discussion was watched by almost a million users.

The meeting was hosted by Musk's colleague, David Sacks, who, like Ramaswamy, criticizes US aid to Ukraine.

The conversation quickly moved away from the headline topic of Israel and Hamas to a broader debate on geopolitics.

Three wealthy tech entrepreneurs agreed that Western sanctions were the reason Russia was driven into China's arms.

Elon Musk: We are sleepwalking towards World War III

Citing his experience in dealing with the military and intelligence communities as CEO of SpaceX, as well as frequent meetings with world leaders, Musk said he was concerned about the current breakdown in communication channels between great powers. He added that this fosters an atmosphere of suspicion in which each believes that the other may be preparing to attack.

"Russia and China have started joint military exercises, I don't know how many people are aware of it," Musk said. "We are sleepwalking towards World War III, making one stupid decision after another," he added.

Elon Musk thinks remote work is a really bad idea. Tesla's boss is irritated that someone who works like this loses touch with reality. He himself says that he even slept in the factory because it was necessary.

In his opinion, launching further packages of sanctions against Russia may turn out to be a fatal mistake, because the Kremlin is looking for support from Beijing.

- What choice did we give them? - Musk asked, before explaining what this could mean in practice - a Western alliance unable to maintain weapons production in a militarized East.

- Russia has raw materials and China has industrial potential: From a war point of view, it is a perfect combination - he argued.

Elon Musk returns to the idea of making peace between Ukraine and Russia

As Sacks questioned whether a deal with Russia was still possible and Ramaswamy wondered whether Putin could be persuaded to trust the West, Musk took the opportunity to restate the controversial proposal he publicly made last November - peace between Ukraine and Russia.

Musk proposed conducting an internationally controlled referendum in the territories inhabited by Russians. Ukrainian refugees would be offered the opportunity to return to the homes from which they fled the Russian army. This way, they could vote alongside their Russian brothers because, according to Musk, the two Slavic nations are not "natural opponents."

Elon Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, mocking American aid for Ukraine. The meme contains a photoshopped photo of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with the caption: "When 5 minutes have passed and you haven't asked for a billion dollars in aid."

In Musk's opinion, neither side is able to win, so the best solution for the entire civilization is for Ukraine to relinquish its territory in exchange for peace. Kiev's concession would spare the lives of Ukrainians killed in the "flower of their youth", while ensuring that the conflict does not expand.

- We should strive for peace immediately. We should strive to restore normal relations as soon as possible - this is not some kind of reward for Russia, it is simply recognition of the reality, he said.

According to Musk, ending any semblance of a rules-based international order is a necessary evil if the alternative is World War III. This would, in his opinion, be infinitely worse than returning to the era of the superpowers of the last century.

"If civilization collapses, it will be the end for everyone," he said."
