There are around 260,000 Germans who spend their old age in another country with a statutory pension from their home country.

 "Most of them, almost 28,000 in total, live in Austria, around 26,000 in Switzerland and 22,000 in Spain. In percentage terms, the number of German pensioners abroad has risen even more sharply in the past 20 years than that of foreign recipients of German pensions: since 2002 it has increased by around 100,000 or almost two thirds."
