“If only two or three cucumbers have grown on a bush, this
problem can be solved using a simple remedy.
Many gardeners have to deal with a low cucumber harvest. At
the end of the season, the yield decreases, especially when the night
temperature drops. Cucumbers become sluggish, turn yellow, bitter, and voids
appear inside them. In addition, the plants become resistant to late blight and
chlorosis. This problem can be solved with the help of simple baking soda. What
is the benefit of soda for cucumbers? Soda can help increase the yield and
extend the fruiting period until September or even October.
Advantages of soda: promotes abundant fruiting even on weak
bushes; increases overall yield; protects against yellowing, late blight and
chlorosis; rejuvenates cucumber stems and bushes; cucumbers grow smooth,
without voids and bitterness; plants renew and bear fruit as at the beginning
of the season. It is important to prepare the fertilizer correctly - incorrect
proportions can harm the plants.
How to prepare the fertilizer?
Use a plastic or glass container. Enameled or aluminum
containers are not suitable. Ingredients: 500 ml of warm (not hot) water; 1
teaspoon of soda (with a heap); 1 teaspoon of dry yeast; 1 drop of iodine.
Preparation: Pour warm water. Add soda, stir and leave for 30 minutes. Add
yeast, stir well. Add iodine and stir again. Dilute the resulting concentrate
with 5 liters of settled water.
How to use?
Cucumbers are watered at a rate of about 1 liter of solution
per bush.
If the leaves turn yellow, the plants themselves can be
sprayed with the solution. After such fertilization, the cucumbers renew
themselves and begin to bear fruit abundantly again.”
