"The
President of the Vilnius Industry and Business Association, Sigitas
Besagirskas, revealed on the "Lietuvos ryto" TV show "Nauja
diena" how business evaluates the changes introduced by the conservatives.
Lithuania is the
only country in the world that managed to get into fight with China. How based on values it
is is another topic, but the fact is that no one in the world got into fight in the
way that Lithuania did. If we talk about industry, and the industries in
the investment are not for the domestic market, they are usually for export and
export in a broad sense.
Those companies
that invest usually don't build the first factory, it's the fifth, tenth or
something. This means that they have a connection with China in one way or
another, so they simply won't choose Lithuania and I think they won't choose it
for a while: they won't choose this government and will wait for a decision
from another government - whether it's the same or not - or something will
change. The government itself does not decide why they got into fight, but the fact
that we got into fight made us look strange, at least unfavorably in the eyes of the
world, so I think that for at least five years we will not receive anything
from industrial investments, except domestic investments - from those
Lithuanian companies that will expand internally. But I am very skeptical about
foreign countries."
