"The exclusion of our country from the group of trusted partners by the US and the imposition of restrictions on the export of American semiconductors to Poland surprised the Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski. The ministry's quick reaction.

 

Poland's qualification to the group of countries subject to restrictions on the export of modern AI chips is a major image blow to our country. In the next two years, Americans will be able to sell systems necessary for the creation of advanced artificial intelligence technologies on 18 markets without any obstacles, including Japan, Australia and most Western European countries. The fact that limits were introduced on deliveries to Poland caused a storm on the Vistula. The Polish embassy in the US has already asked the Joe Biden administration for explanations. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski is also announcing an intervention.

 

Embargo on AI chips. This is how the Polish Deputy Prime Minister reacted

 

- Poland will demand decisive action from the European Commission regarding the US decision - says Gawkowski. And he does not hide his surprise at the controversial decision of his ally.

 

– None of us were informed about this matter before. This is a completely unjustified action – he comments.

 

The ministry has already asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for an explanation. So far, the MFA has not taken an official position on this matter.

 

Experts believe that the outgoing administration of President Joe Biden is creating a new iron curtain in Europe, which will divide the EU into the winners and losers of the AI ​​revolution. Unfortunately, the USA has classified our country in the latter category.

 

– I will ask Commissioner Henna Virkunen to take action in this matter. All EU countries should be treated equally in this matter. I count on intervention and that she will issue a strong appeal in this matter. There can be no talk of dividing EU countries into categories A and B. Official “blah, blah” in this matter is not enough – emphasizes the Deputy Prime Minister.

 

For now, the EC has only issued a general statement in which it expressed concern about the US decision and readiness to discuss with the American side.

 

Why did the USA include Poland in restrictions?

 Ekspertai mano, kad, kadenciją baigianti, prezidento Joe Bideno administracija kuria naują geležinę uždangą Europoje, kuri ES padalins į dirbtinio intelekto revoliucijos nugalėtojus ir pralaimėtojus. Deja, JAV mūsų šalį priskyrė pastarajai kategorijai.

 

 

 

 – Paprašysiu Komisijos narės Hennos Virkunen imtis veiksmų šiuo klausimu. Šiuo klausimu visos ES šalys turėtų būti traktuojamos vienodai. Tikiuosi įsikišimo ir kad ji pateiks tvirtą kreipimąsi šiuo klausimu. Apie ES šalių skirstymą į A ir B kategorijas negali būti nė kalbos. Oficialaus „bla, bla“ šiuo klausimu neužtenka“, – pabrėžia vicepremjeras.

 

 

 

 Kol kas EK paskelbė tik bendrą pareiškimą, kuriame išreiškė susirūpinimą dėl JAV sprendimo ir pasirengimo diskutuoti su Amerikos puse.

 

 

 

 Kodėl JAV įtraukė Lenkiją į apribojimus?

 

 

 

 Kodėl JAV su mūsų šalimi elgėsi lygiai su Mongolija ar Kazachstanu? Pasak ekspertų, gali būti keletas priežasčių. When French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer once again spoke last week about the possibility of European forces in Ukraine, the French armed forces had already completed exercises preparing them for such a scenario.

 

In the last months of 2024, the French army conducted several weeks of top-secret preparatory exercises at one of the training grounds in France.

 

Codenamed Perseus. Drone and intelligence deployment exercises

 

As Intelligence Online writes, analyzing materials obtained by the portal, the purpose of the week-long maneuvers of the Special Forces of the Land Forces (Commandement des Actions Spéciales Terre - CAST) under the codename Perseus was the potential support for Ukraine in the event of a Russian offensive from Belarusian territory.

 

The French daily "Le Monde", citing its sources, reports that the topic of sending Western soldiers and private military companies to Ukraine has returned to the discussions between France and Great Britain.

 

The units that make up CAST, including the prestigious French 13th Parachute Dragoon Regiment (13e RDP), exercised in an area with characteristics similar to the bend of the Dnieper River north of Kiev. The aim of the exercise was to train teams in the deployment of operators and drones during missions in hostile conditions, similar to those that the military may encounter in Ukraine.

 

The exercise also involved units specializing in satellite imaging and analysis of data collected in this way, as well as those that focused on gathering intelligence information on the movements and plans of Russian troops using the social media platform Telegram.

 

France lags behind in drone production

 

One of the conclusions drawn from the secret exercises was how much France lags behind in terms of the development and supply of FPV drones, which are firstly fast, secondly – ​​provide live images, and thirdly, are cheap to produce.

 

The portal notes that the French department of arms procurement has not included large-scale production of FPV drones on its list of urgent tasks, nor is it focusing on the use of AI-based algorithms to automatically identify military equipment."
