"The Polish government used the relaxation of the pandemic situation to announce on Saturday a large post-corona program that was postponed several times. It is called“ Polski Ład ”(Polish order). The name testifies to nothing less than the claim to a new order to be proclaimed in the economy and society.
The “Polish Order” contains a multiplication of the tax-free allowance and an increase in the thresholds to the next higher tax rate - thus taking into account the sharp rise in wages over the past 20 years.
In particular, people with a gross wage of up to 2200 euros a month - a large part of the middle class by Polish standards - should have around 1000 euros more in their pockets at the end of the year.
The newspaper Rzeczpospolita commented that 18 million taxpayers could be satisfied with the new rules announced; but that also means that eight million higher earners are likely to be dissatisfied.
The new package contains something for almost everyone: farmers and retirees are given consideration, the status of artists is to be regulated by law. For families who want to buy an apartment or build a house, the government wants to guarantee part of their loans. The chronically underfunded health care system is to be allocated to seven percent from 2027 after five percent of the gross domestic product today - that was a central demand for protests by medical staff years ago. For this, however, the health insurance contributions will increase.
A vague announcement is the "abolition" of precarious employment contracts, from which young people in particular suffer. At the same time, investments in the billions are announced, which, of course, would be hardly conceivable without the EU's Corona development fund, which has already been approved in the Polish House of Representatives and which also takes on debts. By 2030, “2500 kilometers of new roads and highways” are to be built, as well as swimming pools and sports fields. More history lessons should strengthen patriotism."
After such reforms, the Polish rulers will be re-elected to power. Political parties slaving for Lithuanian business will explode with jealousy. Feminists around the world will be very disappointed.
