Trump administration vows to make America healthy again - turned everything upside down

“Americans will eat differently from now on. The administration of United States President Donald Trump has vowed to “make America healthy again.” New dietary guidelines have been announced, and the food pyramid has been inverted: it is recommended to eat more red meat and dairy products, and as little as possible grains such as oats.

The United States is entering the new year with a new diet. The recommendations are updated every five years, so now Americans are presented with what they should eat in the next five years. The White House showed an inverted food pyramid.

“It looks upside down - a lot of people would say that, but in fact it was upside down a long time ago, we just fixed it,” said US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Jokes aside, but eating habits will have to change fundamentally.

“Protein and healthy fats are essential. They were wrongly discouraged in previous dietary guidelines. We are ending the war on saturated fat. A diet rich in vegetables and fruits reduces disease risk better than most drugs,” said R. F. Kennedy Jr.

You will need to eat not only lots of vegetables and fruits, but also significantly more meat and dairy products, such as cheese, which are animal proteins.

“The previous guidelines recommended such a low amount of protein that we are now increasing it from 50 to 100 percent. Children need protein,” said Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary.

“This is the foundation that will make America healthy again — not just for us, but for our children and our children’s children, those who will live after us. May God bless American families and our farmers,” said Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.

Grains are at the bottom of the food pyramid. Americans are being urged to cut back on refined carbohydrates, such as white bread and flour tortillas. The slogan is to cut back on processed foods.

“The message is clear: eat real food,” said R. F. Kennedy Jr.

The alcohol recommendation has been made less clear, with the one-drink limit removed and only a moderate limit.

Reporters wondered what led to the change in wording to allow two drinks per day for men and one for women, and whether the industry had any influence on the changes.

“Alcohol is a social lubricant that brings people together. In the best case scenario, I don’t think you should drink alcohol, but it allows people to connect and communicate. Yes, alcohol is in the guidelines, but don’t drink it with breakfast,” said Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

The war has also been officially declared on sugar and sweeteners.

“Added sugar, especially sugar-sweetened beverages, is a major contributor to metabolic disease. We are declaring war on added sugar,” said R. F. Kennedy Jr.

R. F. Kennedy Jr. says the new guidelines will “make America healthy again” and will serve as the basis for programs across the country, from school meals to the military.”
