Lavrov Promises Much Tougher Methods

“Russia will act more harshly to destroy everything that the West does to strengthen Ukraine’s military potential,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

 

“We will make our methods much tougher to destroy everything that feeds Kiev’s military machine from the West. And we are already doing it. They are already starting to groan,” Lavrov said on the Russian state channel VGTRK, as quoted by Interfax.

 

According to the Russian Foreign Minister, “that is why calls to end the conflict in Ukraine are growing louder from various points in our common space.” However, Lavrov stressed that this will not happen anytime soon.

 

“If we suddenly stopped at the contact line now, we would actually allow the feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, who defeated Nazism, to be erased. This is out of the question. We are talking about our responsibility for the thousand-year history of the Russian state,” the Russian Foreign Minister continued.

 

S. Lavrov also acknowledged that people in Russia are suffering and dying as a result of the conflict, which has been going on for five years. However, according to him, military actions should be ended only when there is a long-term, reliable and sustainable settlement.

Has questions for the US

 

S. Lavrov also said that Russia has forwarded a number of questions to the US State Department regarding the intelligence information provided by Washington to Kyiv and the participation in the strikes of the Ukrainian armed forces deep inside Russia.

 

“We have forwarded a number of questions to the US State Department, asking them to comment, among other things, on intelligence data and the fact that the US is much more deeply involved in organizing and carrying out strikes on civilian targets deep inside Russian territory. We will wait for answers,” the head of Russian diplomacy said in an interview on Friday.

 

Responding to a question about whether Moscow could issue an ultimatum before talks with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in order to prevent such US actions, the minister noted: “We do not issue ultimatums.””
