U.S. Extends Payment for Russia Carve-Out

"WASHINGTON -- The Treasury Department extended a sanctions carve-out allowing U.S. financial institutions to process transactions related to Russian energy sales for nearly six months as the U.S. seeks to minimize further disruption in global energy markets.

The sanctions exemption, which was set to expire June 24, will remain in place until Dec. 5, when the European Union's ban on imports of Russian oil is set to take effect. While the U.S. has banned the import of Russian energy, many sales abroad are denominated in dollars. The continuation of the carve-out would allow U.S. financial institutions to process payments for Russian energy in other countries.

"This license will provide for an orderly transition to help our broad coalition of partners reduce their dependence on Russian energy," a Treasury spokeswoman said.

Energy sales remain a big source of revenue for Russia, and Western officials have sought to crimp those hard-currency streams and weaken Russia's financial position. But officials are grappling with soaring energy prices and the highest inflation in decades, pushing them to keep Russian energy on the market and keep global supply steady.

The concern is that the new EU moves -- as well as the possible expiration of the U.S. exemption for processing payments -- could force Russians to cut production further." [1]

Well, the people who run the world don’t know how to live. Take the example of Gabrielius Landsbergis, grandson of the patriarch. Due to nepotism, he inherited the post of party leader. He married a twisted woman who hires teachers for pennies and gives kids a deceptively "elite" education this way shoveling money into her bank account by a bucket. Therefore, grandson does not care about anything. What is inflation? What are the prices of diesel? What are the gas and food prices? Sanctions are needed and only sanctions. Nothing else matters.
