"To the same
ones who established closer ties with Taiwan, which led to the crisis with
China.
For example, the
shareholders of the startup "Oxipet", which received a quarter of a
million euros from Taiwan, opened their wallets wide during the presidential elections. In
2019, 4 shareholders transferred almost 18 thousand euros to Šimonytė. True, at
that time they were not yet shareholders of Oxipit, they became so in 2021. One
shareholder had transferred almost 300 euros to the "Freedom Party"
before the Seimas elections, but this support was not accepted
"This could
have helped your business success in attracting this investment, wouldn't it
seem?"
— No, I don't
think so. It's the first time I've heard of a company in our country as well as
separate from politics," asserts G. Pekšys. The head of Solitek, which
received a loan of 8 million from Taiwanese, personally transferred one thousand
euros to Šimonytė during the presidential election. And during the Seimas
elections, he transferred 3,000 to the chairman of the Foreign Affairs
Committee, Žygymantas Pavilionis.
"No, I
wouldn't say that there is any direct connection here, I just supported the
Conservatives personally, because I have been a fan of this party all my life,
it's just for that reason. I like the political line that the conservatives
take, and that's why I supported it," says J. Sakalauskas.
The head of the
company says that supporting politicians does not bring any benefit to his
work: "No, not really."
Last week, when the Taiwanese minister was
visiting Lithuania, it was reported about the investment of 250 thousand euros
in the "Guides" program. It is a program that helps children learn
using modern technology. The program was founded and is managed by Monika
Katkutė-Gelžinė. She did not only promote Ingrida Šimonytė's candidacy in the
presidential elections: "I have such a calm, safe confidence that, as
before, Ingrida will be able to find the most suitable and effective solution
at that time."
But he also
participated in party events of the Freedom Party: "And with Monika
Katkute, the founder of bit&Byte Academy of Creative Technologies. Hello
everyone."
Armonaitė says
that she does not specifically attract investments or orders for sponsors.
"They found those 'Wizards' themselves, didn't they?" — In fact, it
was the subject of general discussions, it is clear that if they did not see
the point, then no one distributes money left and right.
— But it wasn't
like you pushed exactly... — Personally, I really didn't," A. Armonaitė
assures.
Agnė Širinskienė
says that these are similar situations, as with Mykolas Majauskas, who was
criticized for voting for amendments beneficial to business, and later that
business supported him. Conservatives publicly accused Majauskas of corruption
and asked STT to clarify whether businessmen bought him off. "This is
where business pays off. Hand washes hand or there is such a nasty Russian word
"otkatas", said conservative Kęstutis Masiulis.
"This is an
obvious application of double standards, because seeing how diligently they are
trying to raise doubts in Majauskas, I can now say very firmly that they will
not raise any doubts about themselves and will not see any opportunities or
appearances of corruption and certainly will not complain about themselves to
STT or CEC" , - says Agnė Širinskienė, a member of the regional faction.
Yesterday, STT announced that it did not see anything wrong with the support of
the ousted conservative. "That desire to harm Majauskas then harms and
interferes with themselves," A. Širinskienė assures."
