A chatbot based on artificial intelligence, designed to securely handle sensitive data

“The American software group is expanding its offering for companies: a chatbot based on artificial intelligence is designed to securely handle sensitive data.

The American technology group Microsoft is taking another step to reach more companies with its applications in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

The “Bing Chat” chatbot integrated into the Bing search engine will also be available in a special version for companies in the future.

Microsoft announced this at its “Inspire” conference on Tuesday.

Bing Chat is based on the same artificial intelligence as ChatGPT and works in a similar way, but is integrated into Microsoft's Edge browser. Another important difference is the underlying data. While ChatGPT's responses are based on training data up to 2021, Bing Chat is connected to the internet and also has access to recent internet search results.

Data flows to the USA

As with ChatGPT, data automatically flows to the United States. Some companies - including Samsung and Apple - have even banned their employees from using ChatGPT - fearing that they will feed the AI sensitive data and that it will be used to train the model behind the service.

Microsoft now wants to take this fear away from potential corporate customers. The new version of Bing Chat guarantees that user and company data is protected and does not leave the organization, Microsoft promises. The chat data would not be saved, Microsoft could not view the data. In addition, Microsoft promises that the models would not be trained with the company data. The offer is now available in a test phase and is included free of charge in many Microsoft 365 packages. In the future, there will also be a separately available version of the software for $5 a month per user.

Microsoft already offers selected partners access to the language models of ChatGPT developer Open AI via its Azure cloud offer and promises that the data would be stored in Europe in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation. This offer focuses on the development of industrial applications.”
