“Employers' President Rainer Dulger supports the so-called “Germany Pact”. But words must now be followed by actions, he warns.
Employers welcomed Chancellor Olaf Scholz's (SPD) push for a national effort to modernize the country, but at the same time called for concrete action to be taken to implement it. “With the announced Germany Pact, the federal government is finally waking up,” said employer president Rainer Dulger to the “Rheinische Post” (Thursday).
Overslept digitalization
Dulger complained that the traffic light government had overlooked digitalization for too long and stuck to bureaucratic hurdles for the economy and society. “Together with the states, they must now quickly launch the package of measures. Announcements are not actions,” warned the President of the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations (BDA).
“We welcome the fact that the federal government finally wants to speed up the approval process,” Dulger made clear. Digitalization must now be consistently implemented at all levels. “This also means that politics positively supports the desire for start-ups and innovations,” said the employer president.
On Wednesday in the Bundestag, Scholz proposed a “Germany Pact” to modernize the country to states, municipalities and the opposition, with the exception of the AfD. The Chancellor cited the acceleration of approval processes, the digitalization of administration and support for companies as key points. The immigration of skilled workers from abroad should be further promoted. At the same time, “irregular” immigration should be better controlled. Deportations should take place more quickly." [1]
