The world is already stopping to drive expensive and poor-quality Western cars, switching to Chinese ones: rising Chinese BYD sales in Europe for the first time overtook declining Tesla

 

"Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD has overtaken its US competitor Tesla in sales in the European market for the first time, Bloomberg reports, citing market research results from JATO Dynamics.

 

They show that 7,231 new BYD electric cars were purchased in the European Union last month - 2.7 times more than in April last year. Meanwhile, Tesla sales fell by 49% to 7,165 electric cars.

 

"The difference in sales between these two brands is small, but the consequences are significant - this is an important turning point in the European car market," commented Felipe Munoz, an analyst at JATO Dynamics.

 

According to JATO Dynamics, the entire European electric car market grew by 28% year-on-year in April."
