Open AI neatsilieka

Open AI is keeping up.

"Almost a year ago, Open AI released its language model ChatGPT. The company seems to be continuing to hold its own in the race with giants, like Google and Meta.

It's been almost a year since Open AI released its ChatGPT language model. At that time, a new era for artificial intelligence (AI) began. The chatbot, which sometimes provided surprisingly competent answers to all kinds of queries, brought the potential of AI systems closer to the general public for the first time.

ChatGPT's success sparked an arms race in the industry. Technology companies like Google and Meta pulled out all the stops to counter the advance of Open AI with their own language models, Elon Musk founded the new AI company X.AI, which presented its first chatbot just a few days ago.

Open AI is determined to defend its position at the top of the field. The company has rapidly developed its AI systems over the past twelve months and also pushed ahead with their commercialization. It has introduced a premium paid version of ChatGPT and offers for business use.

Now it has announced another step. ChatGPT is intended to become a whole family of AI applications, with many tailored versions for different purposes. All of these individual GPTs, as Open AI calls them, are to be distributed on a new platform that is reminiscent of Apple's App Store.

This GPT Store is intended to provide AI systems for all situations and help such technologies become more widely established than before. To what extent this will be a similar success formula as it was for Apple remains to be seen, but Open AI has created the initial prerequisites for this. Open AI may be significantly smaller than some of its competitors such as Meta or Google. But a year after ChatGPT's launch, the company appears to be doing well in the AI race against these giants." Only experts in generative AI are in greater demand these days.

"Despite the AI boom in Germany, the AI job monitor shows stagnation or decline in demand in many AI disciplines, except for generative AI.

Generative AI is the topic of the year. Accordingly, the number of job advertisements for these specialists is rising sharply, according to the AI job monitor for the Chair of Information Systems at TU Darmstadt, for which all relevant job exchanges in Germany are searched for suitable advertisements.

"Our figures show clearly: Generative AI has arrived in companies."

Areas of application now go beyond just writing texts. Processes such as knowledge or service management are also being rethought," says Chair Peter Buxmann.

The growing demand for GenAI experts stands in sharp contrast to the rest of the AI job market. In all other AI disciplines, a decline in demand or, at best, stagnation has been observed for around two years. The reason for the reluctance lies in the weak returns on investment. When asked about the technology investment that has delivered the best returns in the past three years, cloud computing is by far in pole position, the new Digital Leadership Report shows. In contrast, artificial intelligence or machine learning only comes in second place with a share of 28 percent. If times get tougher, new hires will be shelved very quickly.

Germany is considered a country with the best AI training in the world. German AI specialists now work in relevant positions in many American tech companies. German researchers are also in great demand and often switch to Amazon, Google or Microsoft after completing their doctorates at a German university - also because the demand in Germany is limited, the salaries are lower and the working conditions are worse."
