No long-term strategy: German climate policy is too short-lived

“The challenges of climate change have often been described in drastic, sometimes apocalyptic terms, including by scientists. Despite this, politicians have so far not responded sufficiently. What's more, the size of the task is still not recognized.

The federal government lacks a medium and long-term strategy - this finding of the "climate experts" in the first annual report of the "Science Platform Climate Protection" is clear. The emergency programs planned by the federal government are far from sufficient. German climate policy is short-lived and short-sighted. 

There is no perspective and there are no strategies, such as the use of transition technologies, the removal of CO2 or how distribution issues can be dealt with and thus the necessary acceptance of the population for the transformation can be achieved.

The way the federal government has acted so far, it is not only the climate targets that are disappearing in clouds of fog. There is also no plan to protect the social climate from damage."
