"Entrepreneur, chairman of the board of Avia Solutions
Group and last year recognized as the richest person in Lithuania, Gediminas
Žiemelis, who took advantage of the Citizenship Law's exemption for the
descendants of exiles to have multiple citizenships, obtained Turkish
citizenship in the past year and intends to obtain the citizenships of two more
states.
This is announced by the "LRT.lt" portal.
The businessman told the portal that he had invested a lot
in Turkey, and he needed the country's citizenship to buy an airline. He
intends to acquire two more citizenships in the near future. G. Žiemelis has
also been a tax resident in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for many years.
According to the portal, G. Žiemelis' mother was born in the
Krasnoyarsk region of Russia, where grandparents Leonas and Stasė Karpiai ended
up during the May 1948 exile. The family supported the Lithuanian resistance -
Stasė Karpienė's brothers, according to the family history collected by the
businessman himself, were partisans.
If G. Žiemelis did not have the status of an exiled
descendant, he, like any other Lithuanian citizen, would not be able to
maintain dual citizenship. According to the laws of Lithuania, the number of
citizenships for descendants of deportees is not limited. The authorities
intend to change the procedure."
It is necessary to urgently change the procedure and put in
prison for life all those who have multiple citizenship, engage in
international businesses and create jobs for Lithuanians in Lithuania. If the working
people become the elite in Lithuania, the authority of us, a few lawyers who
suffer from ascariasis, who terrorize the whole of Lithuania and who do nothing
good, will decrease.
