"Germany may run out of gas if the supply of Russian
gas remains as low as it is now, and in winter, if there is not enough gas,
certain industries will have to stop their activities. German Economy Minister
Robert Habeck told Der Spiegel.
"Companies would have to stop production, lay off
workers, supply chains would collapse, people would go into debt without being
able to pay their heating bills," Habeck told Der Spiegel, as quoted by
Reuters news agency.
A. Habeck hinted that benefits will probably be applied to
the companies and people affected by the gas shortage, but warned that it will
not be possible to eliminate all the effects.
Consumers could see energy costs double or triple, which in
some cases are already 30-80 percent. higher due to increased prices last
fall."
Since the Lithuanian industry is tied to the German industry
and we also will have to buy more expensive gas, we will also have collapse.
