"Cupra, a Spanish automotive brand, takes a slightly
different approach to mobility. Under its own name and in cooperation with De
Antonio Yachts, it builds yachts. Now it has presented a new model - the E23
Terramar. This is a fully electric yacht that will be manufactured in...
Ostróda, Poland.
The technologically advanced project combines the spirit of
the Cupra brand with modern solutions in the field of electromobility on the
water. The E23 Terramar is the next stage of Cupra's cooperation with De
Antonio Yachts, which began in 2020. The first result of this cooperation was
the D28 Formentor yacht, which was inspired by the Formentor model. Both
Formentors have combustion engines, the one on the water, with a power of 400
HP, can reach a maximum speed of 40 knots. In 2022, the D28 Formentor e-Hybrid
version was presented, which combined a 400 HP combustion engine with two
electric engines with a power of 15 kW each. This hybrid unit allowed sailing
in fully electric mode, which was particularly useful in areas with limited
access, such as ports or lakes, where it is important to limit emissions and
noise.
We recently wrote about the modernization that the Cupra
brand's bestseller, the Formentor, underwent. But the compact Leon has also
undergone changes - and it is worth paying attention to it. After all, not
everyone likes to sit higher.
Now the E23 Terramar goes a step further and is the first
fully electric yacht in the offer. It is a compact unit measuring 7.20 meters
long and 2.23 meters wide, offering space for 8 people. However, what really
sets the E23 Terramar apart is its electric drive and innovative design
solutions. A special, integrated structure, placed between the hulls, provides
additional lift and reduces friction during forward movement, which translates
into increased range and a maximum speed of 30 knots, as well as better
efficiency.
- The E23 Terramar is another step in our mission to push
the boundaries of motorization. This yacht is proof that our commitment to
innovation and sustainable development goes far beyond the world of cars -
admits Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Cupra. The yacht's Pale Chrome Oxide color and
materials refer to the Cupra Terramar model. The E23 Terramar is manufactured
in Ostróda, at the Model-Art plant - a Polish yacht manufacturer with over 25
years of experience in the industry."
