Aviation: Chinese medium-haul jet goes into series production

"The C919 will be the first medium-haul aircraft built in China. The manufacturer has now received the green light for series production.

China's aviation regulator has approved the mass production of the domestic C919 medium-haul jet. This was announced by the manufacturer Comac on Tuesday. A rival for the Airbus A320neo and Boeing's 737 MAX, the C919 is expected to start delivering to customers next month. From the first half of 2023, the aircraft is scheduled to carry the first passengers at China Eastern Airlines.

According to a report last month, analysts at Jefferies expect COMAC to produce about 25 aircraft annually by 2030, a fraction of the production of the two major western aircraft manufacturers."
