We fought against the Astravo NPP and will continue to fight
the same way - victoriously.
"The second energy unit of the Astravas nuclear power
plant was connected to the Belarusian energy network last Saturday, the state
news agency Belta reported.
"The first kilowatt-hours of electricity produced by
the second unit were transferred to the Belarusian energy system," the
Ministry of Energy of Belarus said.
According to the ministry's announcement, the capacity of
the second reactor of the Astrav NPP will be increased to 100% of the design
capacity, but before that, a stage of trial industrial use will take place,
during which the technological systems and equipment will be tested in various
operating modes, including disconnection from the energy network.
The process of starting up the second reactor of the Astravas
NPP began at the end of last year, and last month its power was increased from
the lowest controlled to 40% of nominal. The industrial (commercial) use of the
power unit in Minsk is planned to start in October of this year.
The construction of the first reactor of the Astravas NPP
was completed in August 2020, and its industrial use began last June.
The power plant, which will have two Russian VVER-type
reactors with a power of almost 1.2 gigawatts each, has one of the biggest
critics in the Landsbergis family controlled Lithuanian authorities. These authorities and payed by them some international experts claim that the
construction was carried out in gross violation of technological and
environmental standards."
