“Przemyslaw Czarnek stated that the Law and Justice party
does not support Ukraine's membership in the European Union (EU) due to the
heroization of the perpetrators of the Volyn tragedy.
The politician and candidate for the post of Polish Prime
Minister, who belongs to the Law and Justice party, stated on his account on
the social network X that the party calls on the government to speak out
against Ukraine's accession to the EU, UNIAN reports.
“We will submit a draft resolution to the Seimas on the
opposition to Ukraine's accession to the EU, taking into account the
heroization of the perpetrators of the Volyn tragedy. We call on the government
to oppose any stage of the development of Ukraine's integration into the EU,”
P. Czarnek wrote.
The politician added that the EU “cannot include a state
that openly appeals to the most terrible legacy that can exist.”
Earlier, the leader of the Law and Justice party, Jaroslaw
Kaszynski, said that his party would not allow Ukraine to become a member of
the EU unless Kyiv renounces the cult of Stepan Bandera and the heroization of
the OUN and UPA.
J. Kaszynski emphasized that Poland supported Ukraine and
its territorial integrity. According to him, the leadership of the Law and
Justice party carried out unprecedented military, diplomatic and humanitarian
actions, which, in his opinion, helped preserve Ukrainian statehood in the most
difficult period in history.”
