Apple wants to use Google's AI "Gemini"

"According to a media report, Apple wants to use technology from Google to add artificial intelligence (AI) to its iPhone operating system.

 

     According to a media report, Apple wants to use technology from Google when expanding the iPhone operating system to include artificial intelligence. 

 

Apple has also developed its own AI, but will rely on “Gemini” for functions related to so-called generative AI, the Bloomberg news agency wrote on Monday, citing insiders. 

 

Apple has also considered using ChatGPT from Microsoft partner OpenAI. Apple, Alphabet subsidiary Google and OpenAI could not initially be reached for comment.

 

     Apple is lagging behind other technology companies in introducing AI into its products. Company boss Tim Cook emphasized a few weeks ago that his company was investing heavily in this technology and promised details of this in the coming months.

 

     Further development of Bard

 

     “Gemini” is a further development of the Google AI “Bard”, which made a mistake with a fictitious answer when it premiered at the beginning of 2023. After initial tests, users initially commented positively on the capabilities of “Gemini”. In the meantime, however, the company had to switch off the AI's image generator because it had made errors in the representation of historical motifs.

 

 Generative AI can create complete texts, images or videos based on just a few keywords.

 

     Apple and Google have been working closely together for years. Among other things, Google is offered as the standard search engine in the Internet browsers of Apple devices. However, this cooperation has come into the sights of the authorities because of a possible abuse of market power. Google has already agreed to supply AI technologies for Samsung's top smartphones."
