Ash treatment of tomatoes and strengthening with yeast

“After transplanting tomato seedlings to a permanent place, the most important stage of their care begins. Although these vegetables are considered quite hardy, in order to enjoy a bountiful harvest of fleshy fruits, it is necessary to take care of the proper composition of the soil.

Experienced gardeners know that the best fertilizers are often found right in the kitchen or in the oven. Homemade solutions not only increase the yield of bushes several times, but also effectively protect them from diseases.

The engine of soil vitality

One of the most popular and effective methods for strengthening tomatoes is the use of yeast. They do not directly feed the plant, but improve the soil microflora.

Yeast fertilizer recipe: 10 grams of dry yeast; 2 tablespoons of sugar; 5 liters of warm water. The ingredients must be mixed until smooth and left to stand for 5-8 hours. Before fertilizing, the beds must be watered with clean water, and then poured under each bush 1-2 liters of prepared yeast solution. This procedure is best done in the morning or evening so that the sun does not have time to dry the mixture.

Mineral source after flowering

When tomatoes finish flowering and begin to form fruits, they especially need potassium, calcium and phosphorus. These trace elements strengthen the plant's immunity and give the fruits a fleshy taste. An excellent source of these substances is ordinary wood ash. How to prepare an ash solution for watering: mix 200 grams of ash with 10 liters of warm water and leave for 5 hours. As in the case of yeast, first water the plants with water, and then apply 1 liter of solution to each bush.

Disease protection: spraying with ash and soap

Ash can serve not only as a fertilizer, but also as a protective measure against pests and diseases.

When the first signs of diseases are noticed, it is recommended to prepare a special mixture for spraying. 100 grams of ash is mixed with 10 liters of water, boil and cool slightly. 50 grams of grated laundry soap is mixed into the warm liquid so that the liquid adheres better to the leaves. The bushes can be sprayed with this mixture no more than once every two weeks.

Important rules: use only ash obtained from burning unpainted and untreated wood; do not use ash where manure or urea has recently been applied; tomatoes need rare but abundant watering - an average of 5 liters of water per bush, fertilizing every two weeks.”
