Drone crashes and explodes in Latvia

“On Saturday morning, a drone crashed and exploded in Lake Drydzis in Kraslava municipality.

On Saturday, at around 8 a.m. (local and Lithuanian time), the State Security Service received information from residents about a drone that had crashed into Lake Drydzis in Kombuliai parish, Kraslava municipality, where it exploded upon contact with the water. There were no injuries.

The police immediately went to the indicated location and began an investigation. Wreckage of a possible drone was found at the scene.

The area under investigation is large, so additional forces were deployed to inspect the scene, including an additional State Police unit with a drone, State Fire and Rescue Service officers with a boat, and the National Armed Forces.

Services continue to work at the scene.

Residents of the eastern Latgale region of Latvia have received similar notifications on their mobile phones over the past few months, most likely related to Ukrainian drones approaching near or entering Latvian airspace. Such drones have exploded in Latvian territory before, including on May 7 at an oil storage facility in Rēzekne.

So far, no people have been injured in such incidents, but the recent drone crash in Rēzekne led to the dismissal of Defense Minister Andris Sprūdas and the resignation of Prime Minister Evika Silina.”

Some  drones have to explode over our heads in the end. After all, there are still people in the Baltic States, not just lakes. Let's think about who to elect to power next time so that such things don't happen in Lithuania.
