“After the abolition of the low-value consignments exemption
in the European Union (EU) in July, those whose value does not exceed 150 EUR
will have to pay customs duty.
The additional 3 EUR fee will be calculated for each
different type of goods in the consignment.
Customs says that it does not expect either an increase in
the load on the systems or the amount of work, and for now, parcel services are
also calmly looking at the situation. However, the real impact of the change
will, it is said, become clear in the fall.
The change in the EU customs system was necessary after it
was noticed that the de minimis exception, based on which goods from third
countries whose value does not exceed 150 EUR were taxed only with VAT, was
being exploited to the detriment of the Community.”
What is also to the detriment of the Community? According to
the elite of the EU – everything that makes life of people in the EU cheaper,
