Where does Liudas Mažylis’ wealth come from?
The wealth of politician and scientist Liudas Mažylis is accumulated from many years of academic, authorial and political activity. According to the State Tax Inspectorate (STI), L. Mažylis is one of the richest MEPs in Lithuania. The main sources of his wealth:
• Political activity: L. Mažylis worked in the European Parliament for a long time, and later became a member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. The salary and daily allowance of a MEP allowed him to accumulate significant financial savings and investments.
• Academic and authorial activity: Before turning to big politics, L. Mažylis was a long-time professor at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU). He has published a number of academic publications, books and articles.
• Investments and savings: Part of the accumulated capital is invested in government securities, real estate, and bank deposits.
